    • It was field trip time as we took a cruise on the Spirit of Jefferson. There was lots of fun for everyone. We even ate at Joe's Crab Shack afterwards and had some great seafood.

    • Dr. Richard Baker was our special guest speaker. He answered lots of questions for us like how to safely work with cleaning products, how smoking impacts our lungs and what new medications are available.

    • It was a special afternoon luncheon with the Louisville area Better Breathers Clubs. Our speaker, Dr. Roger Butterbaugh, discussed the "Psychology of Better Breathing."

    • This month, Karen Seger, RN from Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceutical spoke to us about Combivent and Atrovent.
    New Drugs: Tiotropium, also called Spiriva, is a medication, related to Atrovent, holding significant promise for the future of COPD. It has not yet been approved by the FDA in the U.S., but may be available as early as 2002.

    • "How to Monitor Your Blood Pressure and What's It All About" was the topic of our March program. We saw films and got our blood pressure checked.
