Speaker: Dr. Roger Butterbaugh
The Psychology of Better Breathing

Note: Pictures may take some time to load.

Light-hearted fun and friendship was the theme for our special afternoon luncheon. It was sponsored by the American Lung Association of Kentucky and the Louisville Area Better Breathers Clubs. There were lots of folks who came for the fun.

All of us enjoyed a wonderful meal. Supporters for the luncheon included Boehringer Ingelheim, Apria Healthcare, Frazier Home Medical, Lincare, Praxair and Premier Home Care, Inc.

Our guest speaker was Dr. Roger L. Butterbaugh, Ph.D. from the Department of Psychology at the Frazier Rehab Center.
Dr. Butterbaugh explained how important it is for people with COPD to learn and practice Diaphragmatic Pursed Lipped Breathing. It allows the lungs to inhale warm, clean air through the nose and exhale dead air through the mouth. Pursed lipped breathing is a tool that not only helps control your breathing, but can allow you to stay calmer troughout the day. This will create more control over your body and your life in general.
At the end of our luncheon, everyone had the opportunity to speak to some company representatives who know and understand COPD. This gave everyone the opportunity to ask questions and learn more.

Thanks to everyone for a great afternoon!
